Frequently Asked Questions

Cladco Signature fence panels should only be used with 3m Signature composite fence posts to ensure a secure, long-lasting installation and to maintain all the benefits of composite fencing, including low maintenance and rot resistance. If installing into concrete posts, concrete post spacers are available on our website. ProFence panels must be used with Cladco ProFence aluminium posts for a durable, reliable fit and full system performance.

Cladco's Signature and ProFence panels are suitable for a wide range of outdoor spaces. They create a low-maintenance boundary and can be installed into grass or concrete using postcrete to secure the posts in place.

It depends on your preference and setting. Lighter colours may show dirt and surface marks more easily, while darker colours tend to hide them better. However, darker shades will naturally weather over time and may lighten slightly within the first six months as the boards settle into their final colour.

Yes, you can use a pressure washer on our products, but we recommend keeping the pressure below 2,000 PSI and using a fan tip with a 40–60° spray angle. Maintain a distance of 250–300mm from the surface at all times, and always test on a small, inconspicuous area first. Avoid prolonged direct contact, as this may damage the surface of the panels.

You don’t need planning permission to replace, maintain, or repair an existing fence, provided it doesn’t exceed its original height. If you’re installing a completely new fence, we recommend checking with your local council, as planning rules and height limits may vary depending on your location.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Cladco’s Signature composite fencing boards are not fire-rated. As they contain natural wood fibres, they do not meet specific fire classification standards and should not be used in areas where fire-rated materials are required.

Watermarks can appear as part of the natural weathering process in composite fencing. They’re caused by tannins released from the wood fibres within the boards, which can become more visible when exposed to moisture. These marks are temporary and will fade gradually over time as the fencing settles.

Cladco composite decking boards are available in two lengths, 4m and 2.4m. Fencing boards are available in 3.6m lengths, and Cladco wall cladding is available in 3.6m lengths. We are unable to cut any products to size for customers.

Our Signature composite boards are designed to replicate the natural appearance of timber while eliminating the need for regular maintenance. The pigments used in the manufacturing process may react differently with the timber content in each board, resulting in variations in shade. This is particularly noticeable between the 2.4m and 4m boards. The same applies to our decking Trims, as they are made using the same composition.

Although composite fencing needs less maintenance in comparison to timber options, it is not maintenance-free. It is vital to clear debris from your fencing to prevent any staining, and this becomes especially important when installed underneath trees, where leaves, petals and sap will fall. If your fencing is situated near gutters or downpipes, water run-off can cause staining, though cleaning the panels often can prevent this. If any stains persist, use soapy water to remove or a suitable composite cleaner. Please see our installation guide for more maintenance information.

Cladco Signature composite fencing is designed to expand and contract with changes in temperature. Therefore, if you are installing the panels within the posts, we advise leaving an expansion gap to allow for any movement.

Cladco Signature composite fencing panels have resistant qualities; however, our composite boards contain natural wood elements, which means they will fade from weathering or UV exposure over time. This process is most noticeable within the first six months after installation, as the boards undergo a natural stabilisation process and settle into their final colour. This fading is purely aesthetic and does not affect the strength or performance of the product. Our ProFence composite panels, however, are more resistant to this process because these boards have an extra protective capping.

Our Signature composite fencing panels can be vulnerable to scratching, particularly when exposed to harsh materials like metal. To minimise the likelihood of scratches, avoid using tools that could damage the panels.

Watermarks are a common occurrence when the weathering process in composite fencing is taking place, specifically with our Signature composite boards.
